    Beetles

My hubby and I have a debate going about the Volkswagon Beetle. Personally, I'm all about the original Beetle, but he likes the new one. Which model do you like better?

    Cars = Jobs

Kia built a plant here in Georgia a few years back, and they've been hiring periodically ever since. They have a stringent hiring process, though. My mom's boyfriend applied and had to go through 3 different interviews, a written test, and pass an extensive physical before he was offered a...

    Carry an extra key

Yeah, they make magnetic key-holder boxes, and they work well. We have one on each vehicle and another one hidden on our property to hold a spare house key. I'm one of the world's worst about leaving the keys in the ignition and then locking myself out of the car! :nerd:

    Lectures on tape

Taylor - Have you ever wanted to learn a second language? If so, you might want to look into an audio-based language-learning program. I have an excellent one for Spanish called "Visual Link Spanish", but there are plenty of others out there.

    Flushing The Coolant

Opal - Yes, you are supposed to flush the coolant every so often, but for the life of me, I can't remember how frequently. It goes by mileage, if I'm not mistaken. I don't think it's really a "major" operation, but it's probably a lot messier than changing the oil, because there's so much more...

    Flushing The Coolant

I bought my car back in January of 2010, so I've had it for 3 years this month. Since I've had it, I've never flushed the coolant, and I bought it used, so I don't even know when the last owner flushed the coolant. How often is this supposed to be done?

    Seat covers

I used to keep covers over my car seats, but the covers wore out so I threw them away. I haven't been able to afford new car seat covers yet, but we'll be buying a new set soon.

Long Lasting Scented Product for Vehicle

Opal, are you talking about something like Febreze? Midnight Tech, what "stones" are you talking about? I went into Wal-Mart over the weekend and bought something different this time, hoping it will last longer than those little trees I'd been buying. Are any of you familiar with the...

    Tree is out

We took our tree down today, too. I can't believe how many pine needles were littering the floor underneath it! It took me forever to vacuum them out of our carpet. =/ I was still sad to see the tree go, though.

    Cleaning Floormats

I don't know if this is the "best" way to clean carpet floor mats or not, but when we had carpet floor mats, we cleaned them with that foaming spray that you clean the carpet in your house with. However, that stuff won't get dried mud out, so we eventually replaced the carpet floor mats with...

    Rotating Tires

I don't think it's a bad idea to rotate your tires with each oil change, especially if you're driving more than 3,000 miles between oil changes. I think we might start doing that, because we usually go 5,000 miles between each oil change.

    That New Car Smell

They actually make air fresheners with that "new car" scent. Are you familiar with the air fresheners that look like little pine trees? You can find them almost everywhere, and one of the scents they sell is called "New Car".

Long Lasting Scented Product for Vehicle

I like those little scented trees that you can buy to hang over your rear view mirror, but they don't last long AT ALL. Are there any other scented products out there that genuinely last?

    Engine Oil

Paul - Is non-synthetic what you use in your own vehicle? That's what I used to use, but after researching into it a bit, I decided to switch up to the synthetic blend, and eventually to fully synthetic oil.

    Are You Done Yet?

Yes, I did finish in time, and unfortunately, I couldn't avoid leaving it for the last minute. Like I said, Christmas crept up on me this year. Even having to deal with all the last minute stress, it was worth it come Christmas day. :)

    Are You Done Yet?

It's Christmas Eve and I'm still not done buying or wrapping gifts! I can't believe Christmas crept up so quickly this year, but I still need to buy one last gift for my mom, one for my mother-in-law, and I probably have about 10 gifts left to wrap. It's going to be a long and busy night...

    Rotors bad but not pads

Wow smash, $10/rotor to turn is a great deal! You could have a point about the condensation, as moisture leads to rust. Either way, I'm glad to hear you got a good deal on turning the old rotors and buying the new ones. :)

Who is getting a new car?

No one is getting any vehicles for Christmas in this family, although I have always wanted to be able to buy one for someone and park it in the driveway with one of those giant red bows on top. Maybe in 2013 or 2014, when we have some other debt taken care of, we can buy a second vehicle for the...

    Blinker - turning signal

I didn't know there was a hard and fast rule about this, because blinkers aren't even a legal requirement in my state; they're just a courtesy. However, I think the best bet is to turn them on far enough away from the turn that everyone behind you has a chance to slow down.

    Rotors bad but not pads

These days, you just about come out better to replace the rotors rather than have them machined/turned. Smash - Have you guys been able to figure out why the rotors were bad, but not the pads? Had you recently changed the pads?
