Bubble Gum In Carpet

My girls are no longer allowed to have bubble gum, the reason is when I was cleaning my car out the other day I found some stuck to the carpet. Does anyone know how to get gum out of carpet?

Take an old spoon and scrape away as much as you can. Vacuum the loose pieces. Put some ice in a bag and rub the gum until it is frozen. Then chip away at the gum with the spoon. Vacuum area again. Dab with a small amount of dry cleaning fluid, which should remove anything that may be left. Blot on detergent solution of 1/4 tsp mild dish-washing liquid and 1 cup warm water. Rinse.

That should get rid of it.

This is handy

This is a great post. I just found chewing cum in my van's carpet. I used this and it all came out! Yay, thanks! My kids are not allowed to chew gum in my van anymore either.

I agree with the ice trick. It works for clothing and hair. If you can't get it out that way then you will have to cut it out. I wouldn't let them have it in the vehicle either if they got it on the floor.

What a sticky dilemma I would say. LOL. There is always the ice method or the peanut butter method (which for me is messier coz you gotta deal with the pb afterward lol). There is also what I call the garage method which is zap it with some WD40 and then let it soak for about 20 mins. It should just slide off.

As already suggested, try and freeze the gum, then it should just be a case of picking it off the carpet. Then use some carpet cleaner to remove any residue.
