I have a 1989 Camaro. Sometimes it won't start when I try, but the ding noise comes on as well as the "service engine" light. However, when I wait 5 minutes or so and start it again, it runs fine.
Can someone tell me what might be wrong with it?
It could be in the ignition and an easy fix. I would take it in to the shop just to get it checked out. You wouldn't want to be stuck somewhere and have it not start.
If you have an Auto Zone store near you, go there and they'll give you a free diagnostic test. They'll give you a printout of the codes that are causing the problem, and you can go from there.
