Do you consult the Kelley Blue Book?

When you get ready to buy a used car, do you check the value in the Kelley Blue Book first? I know that I take good care of my vehicles, and my cars are generally worth more than Kelley Blue Book lists them as, but I probably wouldn't get more than what they go for in "the book".

I do consult the book but what I am finding is that the number in the book is about as much as you are going to get. You won't be able to go much over that price.

Yes, I usually do. It's a good baseline to start from to know how much a vehicle is worth. Some are worth more than KBB says, and some less, but it is usually in the ballpark.

It's just too bad that the car depreciates the minute you drive it off the lot. Especially if you make a few "modifications" to it....

I always check, yes. Whether or not I listen to it is another story lol. I'm the kind of person that sees something, wants it, and gets it. I'm working on it though:heh:

I worked for many years for a car leasing company, and the blue book was something that was always on my desk, because I used it so much. It was a resource that was known by not only the industry, but also regular car drivers, so using quotes from it, helped the think well of us.

Yeah, I do consult it but it's not the end all and be all. There are so many variables it's just the start and not the end of the assessment. I would rather go by the mileage and the condition of the car.
