Full Service, Yourself

Do you service your cars by yourself, or would you consider learning? I've had such horrible experiences when it comes to mechanics lately that I want to learn.

My husband changes the oil in the all the cars as well as the filters. I love that he knows how to do that. It saves so much money and it is a big relief because I don't trust most mechanics.

We hire a mobile mechanic that we like a lot to change the breaks and do other stuff that is too hard for us to do on our own. He always does a great job, he is a lot less expensive, has years of experience, and doesn't always suggest that I need this or than done to my car.

I wouldn't even know where to start, and I don't think I have the skills. I guess I am also missing the most important quality, patience. I am lucky in that I have friends that know about cars and they always steer me in the right direction.

I do bits and pieces, but not a lot. I've changed my oil, and I keep an eye on all of my fluids to make sure that there is enough. I've even bled my radiator but not a full service.
