Insurance refund

Since insurance is mandatory to have if you drive a car, I think refunds should be mandatory too. I've never had an accident or claim yet I've paid enough insurance over the years to buy a nice brand new car. Wouldn't that be great if those of us that are in this situation got refunded some money instead of donating to all these insurers!

It would expect its not within your contact to your insurance company. Insurance is there for just in case it happens, you are still getting a service even if you are not actually using it.

It would be great, but I doubt it would happen. Sort of like me getting a refund for the Social Security I'll never see. We pay for those that do use it.

Alstate does send me a small refund each 6 months. Usually around $40-$50 plus I have the vanishing deductible. It should be down to 0 now.

I have Allstate for my bike... I didn't know they did that vanishing deductible thing. I might have to ask my agent about that, because that would be handy!

Wouldn't that be a trip? You know they're putting all those premiums into interest-bearing accounts and making lots of money off us. I just don't see it happening, though.

That is a nice concept isn't it? I would love it if my insurance company paid me back everything I have paid in in excess of any claims I may have had in the last 15 years.

Doubtful! Although it sounds great. I think it's the cost of owning and driving a car... well really here it's the cost of licensing a vehicle. I wish we would get a refund though - I could think of some great items to buy with that refund!

Regardless, I don't buy into why we should have to fork out so much if there is absolutely no history of claims or accidents. There is no reason the government could use that they can't make it mandatory for at least a part refund. Well there are reasons, but again, I don't buy them.

It is funny that you pay so much for insurance and when someone hits you the insurance company doesn't want to pay you half of what you put into it! Is it my fault that a person ran a red light and hit me? No, so I want the money I put into it. This has not happened to me personally, but to a friend. I think most insurance companies on anything act this way. Like you are such a hassle when a problem occurs.
