Loud mufflers

I see some drivers do funny things with their mufflers. They make the mufflers sound loud like a race car. Why do they do that? I don't find it cool. I don't mind having loud mufflers for as long as I'm driving a real race car.

I don't think it's cool either. It will just distract other drivers and provoke road rage. As far as a race car goes, I think they don't set the silencer for performance reasons.

I will add that I don' t see anything fun about that loud to be loud grating noise either. Unless I'm watching a race at a racetrack, I think the quieter the better where vehicles are concerned is best.

I have nothing against a nice throaty sound if you have the v8 to pull it off. Not super loud, but a good sound to it. I laugh at the imports with the 4's running around trying to sound bigger and badder then they are. And the super loud ones, I just cannot stand.

These people who make their mufflers loud and think they sound impressive are kidding themselves. I like the ones with the low rumble, but not the ones that sound like they don't even have a muffler.

Blame that on a young man's ego. You see, for young people, being a drag racer is a status symbol for manliness and bravery. They show off to people that they are drag racers by taking out their good mufflers.

Young men! When do they grow up? I didn't get into loud mufflers even when I was younger. I agree that the quieter is the better. But I like to speed LOL.

The loud sound gives them a kick, along with all other decorative features that appeal only to them. These young guys would grow up soon and redefine what "cool" means.
