On-Board Videos - Aren't They Distracting?

I see cars with on-board video connected to a CD player. They're great for families with little kids. Videos have a way of making the kids behave well.

But don't you get distracted by the audio of the movies they watch? Just wondering.

I see what you are asking but I wouldn't think it would be any different from a radio or CD playing. Overall though perhaps earphones are a better option for the viewers.

I really have not had a problem. My daughter watches Marry Poppins or Alice in Wonderland most of the time, and there are so many times you can listen to it.

Thanks for your inputs guys. Right, it's just like having a CD playing or a radio on. I guess there's no problem if kiddie stuff are being played there. But the moment your favorite movie gets played there, I'm wondering if things would be a bit different :)

I don't see them as any more distracting than listening to books on tape. In fact, it's easier to tune out a movie, especially if it's one you've seen before. With books, I've sometimes had to pull over during an exciting part because I'm so caught up in what's going on in the story!

Hmmm. That's a good point Tabby. I do listen to audio books. During an exciting part, I do have that slight temptation to pull over as well. But I always tell myself that I'm gonna listen to it again, which I do.

But movies are different. Perhaps it's just me. I like movies, generally. Perhaps for people like me, having movies playing in the car are indeed a distraction.
