Police tack strip killed my tires!

I was driving the other day and the police were blocking the road. They waved me around and as I went around I caught the edge of what was a tack strip. I have run flat tires so I didn't even know until I got home and they didn't bother to flag me over to tell me.

That's really rude. I wonder why they didn't do anything about it. I think they should have to pay for them for you

The cops should have put a guard of some type out beside the tack strip. Something like a saw horse. That way you would have to have gone around the tack strip with plenty of room to spare. The tack strips I have seen used, blow out the tires, so I'm surprised you were able to continue to drive with the flat!

I wonder if maybe they didn't notice? Or perhaps since you have run flat tires and kept going they figured you had missed the point bits. That's so unfortunate; I'm sorry it happened to you!

It really did stink, because a new tire was definitely not in the budget when it happened. I can't believe they didn't have it blocked off better myself. Even if I continued to drive, there is no way they could have missed me hitting it since there was an officer standing right there flagging us around.

That copper that missed you hitting the tacks, needs to go back to people constable teaching collage. My friend's daughter just graduated from people college and she told me that in these types of cases, as it is very dangerous driving on damaged tires, they are supposed to be keeping a very close watch out. Maybe it was a really busy night for them though. I always look for other people's excuses.

I am so sorry to hear about that. Chances are that they would not pay to fix it anyway. I have never ran in to a situation like that but I will be more aware when I drive.

Wow! Who would have thought that could happen? That's pretty rude of them not to have the end of the tack strip marked to keep people from hitting it. They definitely should have to replace your tires, in my opinion.

I would address the issue with the captain of the precinct anyway. Let him tell you he won't pay for it. But in honesty, they probably won't even remember your car or you if they even saw you. But there's nothing like trying!

I don't see the police paying for my new tires since they are worried about how they are going to pay their officers. They should mark it better though since I wasn't even aware that is what we were driving around until it was too late.
