Salt and Water Stains on Carpet

I've never had this problem before but the interior of my car is black and I have water and salt stains on the carpet and on my seats. Is there a way to get rid of that without ruining the carpet or the seats? Is it as simple as using some soap and water or is there something else I need to do?

I can imagine the how the stain looks. I spilled water on the seat and it looked already somewhat stained. But I've gotten used to it now. But with salt, I'm sure it's got a white lining around, hasn't it?

My missus uses a spot-bot cleaning gizmo on the seats of her van, and the floor carpets. While it seems like a waste of effort to me, her 1996 Nissan Quest looks brand new, inside.

I'll ask her if there's something special she uses to do that cleaning with.

Next time you rent a steam cleaner to clean your carpets in your house, try steam cleaning the carpet and upholstery with it. You might need to use a stain lifter if it doesn't all come out.
