I don't know about you but when I'm inside the car while the tank is getting refilled I get a bit irritated by the smell. It doesn't happen though when I'm the one refilling the tank.
I don't notice anything different from when I'm pumping it or sitting in the car. I actually like the smell of gas when it's being pumped! I always have.
