Every time I turn the van to either side I hear a deep thumping sound in the back. I've investigated it and can't really see anything that could be causing this. Could it be a shock that is broken or loose?
I'm getting this noise from the front of the car from time to time. It's not all the time so it confuses me. I am wondering the same, if it could be a ty-rod or strut.
Is there something in your trunk that is causing the sound or are you 100% positive its coming from the car itself? I have had this issue happen before and found one of those large rolled up tins in my trunk that my spouse had put there and forgot about it.
I know that when my car was knocking in the front, it was the ty-rod, but I'm not so sure if it's the same problem if it's coming from the back. You might need to take it to someone to drive and listen to.
It was a shock. I had broken a shock and I didn't know it. Now I'm going to have to find the time to put the thing in the shop. I don't want to rent a vehicle if I don't have to and we have wayyyyy too many things going on to do it right now.
Hmmm, I would have said that or a strut. It can happen but it usually doesn't happen too often. Are you going to replace two of them? If you don't then the ride may be uneven for you.
How did you find out it was the shock? Did you put it in the garage? Only reason why I am asking is because I think my shocks are going. I don't want to bring it to the garage if I can figure it out on my own.
I put it up on a buddy's car rack and took a good look at it after I took the dratted thing off. I don't think I would have been able to tell from just looking at it.
