What Exactly is "Candy Paint"?

If you saw the movie The Fast and the Furious, you probably noticed those really shiny paint jobs on some of the cars. I think this is popular in Hip Hop culture too, I hear it referenced in rap songs a lot. I assume they call it "candy paint" due to how the colors look like really bright candy. Does anyone know more about this?

Basically candy is a coat of paint with sparkly stuff in it that makes the normal paint color less flat. It adds shine and gloss.
