I don't know about anyone else, but in my part of the country, you can't buy the less expensive refills anymore for your wipers, you have pay more and buy the entire arm. Is this happening in other parts of the country?
Not yet, but I wouldn't be surprised. Remember when we could buy an inner tube for our tires? Now it all comes together and it's more expensive. Plus the old inner tubes you could patch cheap and still use even if it was just used for a swimming float.
To replace the wiper blade on the driver's side of my van, it cost $7 - just for one side. There was a time when I could buy a pair of refills for the same price. It's just another way to rip off the consumer.
$7.00?? HA! Try $15 each side! For Mazda genuine wipers we paid $30 for the pair and they said they've made them cheaper than RRP... I'd stick with the generic ones but they just don't work that well, I'll probably keep searching until I find a good quality brand.
Ouch! That would stink. I can buy refills here still. I usually just go to the auto parts store and they change them out for free. I wonder why you can't buy the refills anymore. Sounds like a bad recycling deal to me.
This just reminded me. I had bought some Bosch Icon wipers. I just installed them and tested them out. They work so good I may have to buy some for my truck. They are expensive though, so I will have to wait until they are on sale again. They are about $17-20 a blade when not on sale.
For me it has and we just had to replace the ones for the family truck this weekend, it was a total pain dealing with and this time I opted out instead as the last time I had to deal with this I sliced my finger wide open.
