Do they still teach hand signals in driving school?

It just occurred to me that, back when I was a kid, I remember seeing my Dad do hand signals in turning left or right. I couldn't recall the exact situation then. I guess something was wrong with the signal lights then.

Do they still teach hand signals in driving school? I don't recall having been taught that when I studied driving.

I believe in the Motorcycle classes, not sure about drivers ed though. In 1994 they still did.

That's great Jason. Would you know if they have it documented somewhere for us to refer to? People with well-maintained cars won't need to bother with this. But those with old and used cars may benefit. Having this knowledge is like knowing morse code. There's no immediate practical use for it, but sometimes you find yourself in a situation when such knowledge can be an advantage.

I rarely see anyone using hand signals any more. I haven't done one since I don't know when. Of course, my cars have the blinkers working and such.

I do not know. It was in my Drivers Ed book, but do not know if they still have them in there.

A lot of Bikers I see still use them.

This is a must for bikers, certainly. Unlike cars, the two blinkers are close to each other. On a misty afternoon, those blinkers may not distinguish well from each other.

I wonder though if the left and right blinkers of a bike are of the same color. I think it would help if the colors are different. I don't have a Bike, obviously
