    Would you detail it?

You got, Guy. Most of the time, the effort you put out yourself is more than adequate.

O for cryin' out loud: gas prices

I was around for the fuel shortages back in the mid 70's: road rage got cut it's teeth during that time, I swear. Every time there's an issue in the Middle East, gas and oil prices soar: why haven't we found alternatives to the petroleum products that have us so beholden to the Eastern folks...

    Other than coffee?

The guys that drive for a living are limited to 13 hrs per day of road time, or they get into trouble with the Feds. "Road weary" is one thing, but driving tired has a hypnotic effect that turns you into a potential weapon behind the wheel. One "nod off" and a jerk when you 'come to, and you're...

Bank loans... what they don't tell you

Hmmm, I forgot a detail, too: in most cases, the interest rate you pay is NEGOTIABLE. If a bank loans officer convinces you that the best rate you can get is 12%, when the truth is 10%, that 2% difference is their COMMISSION every month, every payment..... DO YOUR HOMEWORK.

    Cars with Built-In Breathalyzers

Hmmm, I came up with another argument for the "against" side: let's talk job-loss in the law enforcement sector. Wouldn't those vehicles so equipped cost the local PD's jobs? And given the economy, is that wise?

    Driving Barefoot

I thought driving barefoot was illegal? All I know is that I've never done it, I can't picture myself stomping on the brakes and down-shifting in a flash without something on my feet.

    16 and a car??

Well, of course I'm going to say DODGE.... Neon, in fact. Or a Ford Escort. Both are great on gas, very forgiving to new drivers, cheap to fix and get parts for.... and you can pick up either, 10 yrs old, for about $1500. Four cylinders is all a 16 yr old needs, you're asking for it otherwise...

Cost of repair more than value of car

That's usually a sign it's time to sell the vehicle and find something newer and more reliable. That it's only a few years old makes me think you might have a 'lemon' on your hands.

    Cars with Built-In Breathalyzers

Technology is no replacement for responsibility. A mechanically minded person with a drinking problem would be likely to disable such a device, anyways. Having been touched by loss due to a drunk driver, I'm vehement in my stance about the subject: legal limits need to be set for the entire...

    Swapping cars?

Not a chance in Hades, I'd never consider it. There's too many risks associated, and all it takes is one greedy, mechanically-minded twerp to sucker an unsuspecting party into taking on wheels that are "in trouble".

Bank loans... what they don't tell you

So you've bought the wheels you wanted, and you secured your own financing.... well, there's a detail the banks won't share with you about that loan: I will. All of the interest is "front end loaded": that means your first year or two of payments are almost ALL interest, and very little goes...

    What was your first car/truck?

A 1969 Dodge pickup with a camper on the back of it! The camper wasn't on it but for the Summer months, and I was thoroughly p**sed when my Dad decided to sell it BEFORE I had my licence: I owned it, and never drove it (yes, my name was actually on the papers, despite being a minor). HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    Are MTV show to risque?

I'll back that, 110%. Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons wouldn't engage the young'uns of today, they've become so jaded and immune to violence and trash on the boob-tube that producers keep upping the ante. I've never seen Jersey Shore, I never will. Celebrity Rehab with Dr...

    How fast is fast?

It depends on the car, and the design, literally. I had an X1/9 that could do 150 mph, given the right road: the faster that car went, the more positive the steering, it sucked itself down to the road and handled like a dream. that little 1600cc engine would just SCREAM,too. The Fiero GT...

Used Cars Owned By Ladies Sell Higher?

Because women aren't as mechanically minded, they're more likely to take a vehicle in to be serviced. They tend to be more reasonable in their demands of the vehicle, and will fix body work rather than be seen in a dented car. In short, women tend to take better care of their vehicles!

Good way to mess up a truck

Ah, monster trucks: that started out as an advertising gimick for a 4x4 parts and accessories shop. It looks cool, it might give greater clearance under the vehicle.... it also makes it liable to tipping over more easily, poor handling in corners, and subject to mechanical issues you'd not...

    Hitchhikers?

Only if it happens to be someone I know: the times have changed enough that I'm not likely to offer a stranger a ride anymore. A stranded motorist won't get me out of my vehicle, or the windows rolled down, but I will offer to call for help via my cell. One of my colleagues was knifed by a...

    Tools For Auto Repair

Same here, MyMotor. The one exception was the torques bits for the water pump in my Fiero GT: those suckers had to be purchased new every time the stupid thing "went" (twice, dammit). Working on that car's engine is a nightmare, I'd have preferred to pay someone to do that job, even tiny...

    Snow tires

I've friends and family that own 2 sets of tires for each vehicle, one a set of studded snowies, the other A/S radials. It's routine for them to have the tires swapped come mid-October and then again at the end of March.

    Clutch Noise

It could be the slave cylinder, too, or the torque converter.... low tranny fluid.... I second the comment about getting two opinions about the issue before making your decision!
