Baby On Board

You know those "Baby On Board" signs people put in the back window? Do they actually cause people to drive more cautiously around them? My wife is pregnant and concerned about having the baby in the car with all those terrible California drivers on the road.

What has been your experience with these signs?

I haven't seen that many of those signs any more. In my area, they used to be more popular a few years back. I don't really think they make that much of a difference. The people that cause the accidents don't really care about the rest of humanity or otherwise they would drive more carefully to begin with.

I always thought those signs were a warning to the rest of us: distracted and harrassed Mom at the wheel, watch out.

I've seen a lot of them, and I tend to back off a car with those. It's not that I don't respect all cars, just that seeing that tends to remind me what I should be doing.

I think they really don't make much difference. I think they tend to be viewed similarly to a bumper sticker - as just a note about the owner of the vehicle.

Hahahahah.... ain't that the truth.

It's often first-time parents that have such signage, in my experience, and first-time parents are positively distracted at times, and that includes when they're driving and Precious decides to spit up in the seat behind them.
