Buying at auctions

I am thinking about going to a local car auction next week. I have never bought from one but the deals seem good so I may do it in the future. Any advice on what to look out for?

I have never gone to a car auction either, but if you're lucky I think you can get a great deal there. Just make sure that you don't end up paying more than you should.

My mom bought me my first car at a police auction for $155. (Please don't ask how many years ago this was ) It needed a little bit of work, but turned out to be a great car.

The only ones I have been to you do not get to do any test driving. You basically get to see the car, they push, pull or drive it onto an auction spot, and you bid on it. You could get a real great car, or your could get a junker.

Umm it sounds risky bit maybe worth it if you have some spare cash to gamble. Do you think the starting price on bids is a guide to the quality of the car?

I've never been to a car auction either but I know there are good deals to be found. Most of the cars run and they bring them up front so you can see them. I've seen some auctions online where cars go for as little as $200.
