I was told that my 2004 Envoy with the standard and single-disc CD deck. I was told that the radio could not be removed or replaced, cause it controls the airbags. Is there any truth to this? This sounds crazy. I would like to replace it.

The wiring system for the airbags are on their own system. Now, the person who said this may be confused the radio system with steering wheel radio controls. If you do have radio controls on your steering wheels, they will be close together. I personaly wouldn't play with them. I do believe they make adapters for some after market radios though, that will allow you to use them.

Maybe but be careful when dealing with these kinds of stuffs. You can change it but be careful.
