Car wont start

It's a 1990 Honda CIVIC LX 5 Speed Manual.

Basically I was on a long distance drive ( 200 Miles ) and about 3/4 the way it pooped out on me. It all happened really fast so it's hard to detail exactly what happened. I was on the far left lane on a 3 lane highway and basically up till this point it was driving perfect. But without a seconds notice the car started jerking and losing speed quickly. I pulled all the way to the right and after getting myself together noticed the car wasn't on anymore, and when I would try to start it, it would turn over a few times but wouldn't start.

After like 100 times trying to start it, about 2 of those tries it would start for about 2 seconds but then die.

When I try to start it the noise is basically like this

DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN STOP (Weird pumping/sucking noise)
DUN DUN DUN DUN STOP (Weird pumping/sucking noise)
DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN STOP (Weird pumping/sucking noise)

It turns over like a different amount of times each try.

Also about 2 weeks prior to this trip the distributor had to be replaced because the rod that the rotor is on was bent.

Its not the starter/alternator/battery I am positive.

My theory is that it is the fuel pump, but being a newbie I have no idea how to check this.

Any help is appreciated, and I am trying to avoid taking it to a mechanic because I am going to trade the car in for a newer one and the cost of fixing it this way would be worthless.

It sounds like one part of the car just completely died, I'd check with a professional. How many miles are on your Honda?
