Changing a windshield

I have another crack in my windshield. These darn big trucks that go by and throw up stones on the back roads. My hubby is thinking about replacing it by himself (with the help of a friend). I think it's a crazy idea.

What state do you live in? I know when I lived in Florida that happened to me and the law makes the insurance companies pay for them. I didn't have to pay a thing to have mine replaced. I wouldn't let my husband even attempt it.

It isn't easy changing a windshield. He should just call a windshield person to come to your house and fix it right there. If the windshield isn't installed right, you are going to have a whole lot of other problems.

I think all states have the free windshield replacement. That would be the first thing I would look into. Last thing you want is a leaky windshield.

Definately DO NOT attempt this yourself! If you stuff it up it wil be dangerous and expensive. The only people with the right tools to fit a windscreen are windscreen installers... That's why we have them!

I know we don't have a free windshield replacement. I had to pay a deductible the last time it happened and the insurance company told me that if I had more replacements in the next year my rate would go up.

It will cost us money anyway. I did talk him into not doing it. I just paid the co-pay on the insurance. I hope I don't get another chip anytime soon! Darn truck drivers that ick up the stones from the roads.
