I love the new dashboards with the digital displays. I know that some of my friends like it more old school. What is your favorite type of displays on the dashboard?
I'm an analogue guy living in a digital age. Somehow straight number readouts just don't quite register the same in my brain as when I can look at a gauge.
I don't have a digital dashboard. My worry is how do those things withstand the high and low temperatures that happen inside of a car. And then, what do they cost to repair?
If my gas gauge read out digitally that I have 5.2 gallons of gas left, it wouldn't be the same to me as seeing that I have less than a quarter tank. I'm analogue all the way.
They withstand the temperatures, you can be assured of that. They wouldn't make these things if they didn't! But it is a good point that if you prefer no analogue displays, then you better just stick with digital.
I think it would be weird to get use to looking at a digital speedometer. I'm so use to the needle gauge that I don't think I'd ever want to look at my MPH in digital. Are a lot of new cars doing this or something?
I don't think I have a preference. I could use either type of dashboard and be fine with it. I think there is something to the needle gauges that just makes more sense though.
I kind of wish I had one now since I managed to crack part of my dash when I put the radar detector in. The timing is weird though its not a good time for me to get a new car just for a new dash.
I would so love to have one of those digital dashboards whenever I finally get a car! Do they cost extra to get them, or are they just part of the price?
