Driving on the Freeway

It amazes me how comfortable people can be with travelling at 80mph alongside each other and in the numbers they do on freeways. I don't have to use freeways often where I live at all, and probably because of that they make me nervous. Am I alone in this?

I'm sure that's completely normal. I get nervous sometimes too. See, I don't drive but even being in the car, putting my life in other peoples' hands makes me a bit nervous. I think if you were on the freeway more, you'd be more comfortable.

The main highways around here only go up to 70, but that's fast enough for me. What I can't imagine is the Autobahn - 200 mph! Although, I've heard they've reduced the limit recently.

I used to drive a lot faster in my younger days, but I have seen too many accidents here on the freeways. Even though I drive maybe 5 or 10 miles over the speed limit occasionally, everybody passes me. They actually have the nerve to get mad at me for driving slower! I don't care - they aren't going to pay my tickets, or buy me a new car if I have a wreck (and survive!).

Actually I've never thought of it at all. I guess if you looked at it that way, everyone would be afraid to drive. We have wrecks here constantly. The thing that worries me on the interstates is the 18 wheelers and some of the dangerous things they do.

I am not afraid to drive anywhere, unless of course you count downtown Detroit, but that is for a completely different reason. The freeway does not scare me. Did you know they actually have fewer accidents on the Autobahn then they do on our freeways?

I do get a little nervous when I try to drive on freeways. I just try to sway as aware and alert as possible. High speed crashes are mode deadly than low speed ones so I avoid freeways when possible.

I do not have a problem driving on the free way. I know speed kills but I am very careful and observant. I do stay off freeways on holidays when crazies are out, like July fourth and Memorial day.
