How was your New Year celebration guys? Did you join the count down with your neighbors? Anyhow, I hope it was great.

I just wish to share here a funny New Year quote I stumbled upon today . . .

"Now there are more overweight people in America than average-weight people. So overweight people are now average, which means, you have met your New Year's resolution." ~Jay Leno
This makes me feel like I don't have to make a weight goal this year at all*:)

Quite clever. I hope it's not true, though! What a sad commentary. Does it mean we are voracious consumers or a desk-bound nation? Both??

That was supposed to be funny, not scary :)

Anyhow, since you mentioned it, yes, obesity is at the center of health discussions in the US today. It's so prevalent that the word "normal" would have to be redefined. One has to aim for something better than "normal" these days :)

I like the humor, despite the underlying message being a bit scary. It reminds me of the Garfield quote: 'I'm not overweight I'm under tall'.

Ha, that's a funny quote though I hope that's not true. Do we eat too much, don't do enough exercises or it's just our bad collective karma?

"Bad collective karma" -- what a term! Americans are typically large people compared to people in other countries. So don't get me wrong. It's obesity that is the issue. There's a definition for this. Search out BMI to determine whether you're obese or not.

It is a bit of a sad commentary on modern American society. So I guess this means that people of average-weight are now under-weight.....?

Yeah, in this case, large means "tall and heavy", right? I agree with you about calculating your BMI to know that you obese or not. So, what is your BMI, if it's not too personal. :)

Let's just say that based on my height and age, I should shed off 15% of my weight to get to the desired range. I've been trying to shed that off for years now :)
