Getting Tired of Radio

One of my cars that I use for driving to and from work only has a radio in it - not even a tape player. I'm getting tired of hearing the same songs on the radio again and again, and having them be crackly during some parts of my drive. There's no audio jack on this thing, but I do have a cigarette lighter. I'm too broke right now to get a CD player - what are the cheapest alternatives these days for music listening in my situation?

If you have a portable tape player or CD player, you can get a transmitting device for about $10-$12 from Walmart that allows you to have it send the signal to your FM radio.

If you have an iPod or a cell phone that is capable, you can play that instead. On your cell phone you can get Pandora or Slacker both free apps that stream live music to your phone.

Thanks for the tip Maximum Speed!

Jeepers Creepers-do you know if you can somehow transmit your iPod or mp3 sound to the car speakers? I don't have an iPod dock in my car. I would love to hear some of the things I've got on iPod but I'm afraid to block my hearing while I'm driving.

Even though my car has a radio and CD player, I haven't listened to the radio in a very long time. I bought the transmitter and I only use my iPod. I love listening to books as I drive my kids to school.

I don't think radio is as "in" as it used to be. I listen to it every now and then, and if I start liking a song or two, I may buy the CD, or put it on my iPod, and listen to that on my way to work.
