How long do you keep your cars?

In general, how long do you keep your car? I have had my current car for 6 years and don't see it going anywhere. My mom trades in her car every year or so.

Do you like to upgrade often, or hang on to the same car?

As long as possible! The one we have had the longest was purchased (used) in 2002. The next one in 2006, and the most recent is a 1990 vehicle that we've had for a little over a year.

I keep them until they can't run any longer. I've actually never had a car that stopped running yet. I've been pretty lucky. I just keep fixing parts and all that good fun when it's needed.

I tend to keep my vehicles a long time, although there have been a couple of situations when my needs changed so the vehicle had to change accordingly.

I pay them off and then drive them until they won't go anymore. I'm kidding, kind of. I don't trade cars in, ever. If I feel like it's time for a new car I'll sell the old one out right for a few hundred dollars and then go get a new (used) one. I stay away from dealerships as much as possible.

That's great, but I wouldn't do it even if I could afford the cost. I am a kind of person who drives his car till it will not work anymore. I bought my current car around 4 years ago.

I do not plan to get rid of any of mine until I really have to. I remember years ago I knew someone that took excellent care of his truck, well over the 250k mile mark and the only thing ever replaced on the truck (besides tires) were the hubs for when it was winter time. I want a car that I can use and depend on for years to come, I have no plans to trade up every few years like some others do (no offense).

I try to keep mine for a long time, at least until it starts costing me more to keep running than a newer car would cost. I currently own a 1994 Honda Accord that I bought brand new, and besides paint that isn't as shiny as it used to be, I have no complaints.

I would love to keep my car as long as possible so I can get the most for my return with the investment. It might be slightly second hand to me but its a good little trucker that keeps going. I keep it in-closed in a carport w/a drape atop during the bad weather months in winter and I try to keep it as clean and in shape running wise as possible. I hear all of this can deter the life span of most autos.

I hang on to the same car. My current car is 2006 Chev HHR, with low mileage. Before that 1997 Olds 88 with 300,000 miles. Traded at this time because of front end accident. This motor needed a valve job and nothing else. Intervals of six months for oil & filter with Castrol 5W30 oil & filter.

Your vehicle will sound like a humming bird IF you do the preventative maintenance
