Lawsuit! Ford vs Ferrari

Just think of it this way, you design and create a product, work hard at marketing that product and trade marking the name just to have someone come along and basically steal that name. How would you feel? Would you allow them to use the name? Why have trade marks if no one is going to abide by them?

This is a big deal. Over ten years ago, Mercedes Benz sued another manufacturer for allegedly copying the rear design of one of their latest car models that time. I looked at the second manufacturer's model and indeed I saw a resemblance, but it wasn't an exact copy at all.

You see, not all people would notice design resemblances (come on, latest car models of any brand now look the same for many people), yet it was a big deal to Mercedes Benz. How much more for "F150" for crying out loud? If I were Ford I would freak out as well.

Why would Ferrari do that in the first place when they had to know that Ford was using it and there are plenty of other letter/number combinations? There's no doubt Ford should win this one.

Oh dear. Talk about intellectual property or something like that. It's a shame Ferrari has to use a name that someone else has been marketing for years. But I think they don't have a bad intention. I hope they will settle it.
