Oh my- yesterday we were coming home from shopping and this car next to us was SO LOUD! It had a weird muffler and it sounded like a jet. It drove me crazy!
I must admit, I do like a nice sounding exhaust, but only if the engine is perfect as well. There is nothing worse than a loud exhaust that is skipping at idle, or the timing is off.
Not me... it was horrible and loud. It actually vibrated my ears! I don't care if the car is skipping or not I don't like it. I think there should be something against noise pollution.
I don't like loud cars either. Isn't there a law against loud cars? That is like driving by someone who has their bass maxed out and it vibrates the windows as you drive by them. It's crazy!
I think there is a limit. The car show I was at over the weekend had a lot of nice old cars with some power behind them. Only a few where too load, which was nice. Most had a nice rumble to them.
I think that loud cars can be acceptable till a certain extent but I know what you mean. They simply remove their silencer and it causes noise pollution. I mean, if you want to show off a nice car, there are plenty of nicer ways to do so!
I always think that a well-tuned engine is like a cat --- it purrs. LOL. Loud engines are for people who want to attract attention. I have seen my share of these supposed mufflers which do nothing towards muffling at all!
Where I live in the country, you pass the stop sign, round a turn and drive about 1/2 mile. The guy across the way with the revved up Mustang can be heard after he clears the turn. I think he has bore holes in his pipes.
A good rumble is always nice but when people think the louder the better, and its not a clear rumble sound and feels like your eyes and ears both want to bleed, then its bad. I just wish there was a nice way to tell people this.
I don't mind loud cars what I do mind is when they are loud on start up and park outside of my bedroom window and the owner leaves it running for 15 min every morning to warm it up and keeps me awake.
I've been told mine sounds like a jet engine when I first start it, but I haven't done anything to encourage this noise it is a completely factory condition. I don't like the ones who purposely make theirs loud either. Where I live it is against the law.
