New stoplights

I am thrilled. The main intersection near us had stop lights that are probably as old as the invention themselves. No turn lane arrow and mass confusion was the theme. Now we have brand new ones!

Congratulations, I know how important it is to have good stop lights. We have been writing letters to city hall about a corner near a school that is a total disaster in the mornings especially for the kids on their way to school. I wish they would make up their minds and put the darn light.

Cool! We had a storm a few years back that was so bad it caused some of the traffic lights to fall right off of their lines, so the government was forced to replace them. It was a nice upgrade.

In the last couple years they've installed lights in our town that have sensors that detect when a car has driven up. The light stays red on the low traffic part of the intersection and the main road stays green until a car drives up. Have you seen these?

We've had those for years, Guy, or at least something like them. I think it is how they are set to operate. I love them because there's no sitting there forever with no oncoming traffic.

I like the sensor idea too, though I heard about a driver somewhere who sat for ages because they were not working properly. I wonder how difficult it is to make sure the triggers are in the correct places?
