Is it true that the newer car don't have to change their oil until 7,000 miles? It sounds like a very long time? Is it safe to leave it until then without messing up the car?
I would think that if the manufacturer recommends an oil change every 7,000 miles is because there is no need for it before hand. I would just follow their recommendations, and not worry about it.
That makes sense CV. But if I had a new car, I wouldn't probably feel comfortable to change the oil every 7000 miles. I am used to changing the oil every 4000 - 5000 miles.
Lizzie, it depends on the year and the model of the car. Newer cars are designed to go longer between oil changes. Whether or not you follow that advice, is up to you. Personally, I change mine every 3000 to 4000 miles, brand new car or not.
