Replacing a dashboard

My girlfriend has an older Chevy Cavalier and the dashboard is in very bad shape. It's cracked everywhere and large chunks are missing. Would it be wiser to find the part she needs at a junkyard instead of going to a dealer or mechanic? She only paid 2000 for the car and she doesn't want to spend a ridiculous amount on labor if it can be avoided.

I think I would check a junkyard first. It doesn't *seem* like it should be too hard to change it out. Can you look up the model online and see if there are instructions for doing that?

Probably a junk yard will be your best bet. I know back in the day when I drove a junker and didn't have much cash, my boyfriend at the time would get used parts from a wrecking yard much cheaper than buying them new.

The junkyard does sound like the smart and cheaper way to go, especially with that step by step instructions and tip you just gave me the link for. Thanks a lot Maximum!
