Roads You Know Like the Back of Your Hand

I was just driving from my house to a friend's to drop him home, and it's a bit of a dark, country road because some of the streetlights are out. I was going fast, but I was comfortable...I knew when turns were coming up and where I could speed up a little. I realized that I know this road like the back of my hand, and if it were made into a closed course I could probably set a pretty good record on it, lol. Do you have any roads that you know really well?

I have a couple I know well, but I still wouldn't be very comfortable driving them without visibility. On the other hand, I had a buddy when I was a teen who drove a group of us on a back road - a curvy one - in a blizzard when visibility was maybe 2 feet in front of the windshield (so, like, not at all on the road!) and he went the speed limit! It scared me a bit but he was very comfortable with it and didn't have any problem getting where we were going.

I think that's so weird when that happens. There are some places that I can picture if I close my eyes and that's how I give people directions lol.

I know a few of those, but that's when you really have to be careful... Sometimes you tend to be a little less observant or drive a little faster, just because you know the road, and then, boom!
Also, I hate those drivers that do drive all fast because they know the road; they know where it splits off, where a road ends - you know the deal. And they know that if you are not familiar with it, you might be driving a little slower, with a little more caution, etc, and they want to run you off the road!

Even though I know the road well, I wasn't driving so fast as to not be able to stop if a deer jumped in front of me or if I came upon a stopped car on the road - I was just comfortable, and it surprised me with how dark it was.

I'll admit though, I hate coming across really slow drivers on that drive. :p
