Survival Kits

With all the snow going on in much of the country, it's a good idea to keep a survival kit in your car. Your kit should contain a first aid kit, drinking water, a blanket and some non perishable food, such as energy bars. You never know when you're going to be stranded in your car.

What other items can you think of that should be included?

That's a good idea, even if you don't have bad weather going on. Presuming I had a fully charged cell phone the only other thing I can think of is a good book! If I am going to be stranded I want to have something to do.

That's a good list to start with. I would add a flashlight and extra batteries, an extra battery for your mobile phone, a match in watertight plastic, and a jumper.

I have an emergency kit in the trunk; not sure what works after all these years, and I do have blankets and flashlights in the backseat. It will always be a smart idea to be prepared.

I have a kit in my vehicle, along with a small tool kit. The wife keeps taking hers out. But I'm a firm believer in being over prepared.

A battery operated radio with a weather band might be a good thing to include. Some of those little hand held weather radio allow two way communications too.

I would definitely add a space blanket---you know the kind originally designed for astronauts? When you wrap yourself in one, it's designed to reflect body heat to keep you warm.
