Traffic Laws Differing in States

One thing that I find daunting about traveling from state to state is that traffic laws can be a little different. Some states don't allow you to talk on the phone, some allow you to talk and text while driving. Some states don't require right hand turns to stop at a stop sign, and so on.

Some states do not require people to stop at a stop sign if they are turning right?! This seems like an accident waiting to happen. I think that everyone should stay off their cell phone while driving. Phones just distract a driver and cause accidents.

I believe it was in Oregon that I saw it. There are some intersections with 4 way stops that say that if you are turning right, a stop is not required. Seems like a good way to get in an accident, right?

I agree. There ought to be a cheat sheet available somewhere, or a brochure at the welcome center or something that lists major state-specific traffic laws that people need to know.

I agree about the no cell phone law. It isn't against the law where I live and I do use mine once in a while, but if it was illegal, I'd have no problem with it unlike half of the South Florida population that need to be on the phone or texting at all times. Not having to stop at a stop sign is a new one to me. I'd stop anyways.

I have traveled through tons of states and have never had a problem with traffic laws. I think if you pretty much follow the laws of your home state and the speed laws of the road you are on you should be good to go.

The only issues I mainly have is when the speed limit changes and I have no clue about it. I thought they had to put up signs for this sort of thing?

I've experienced the speed limit changing with no notice and then suddenly everybody has slowed down. I think speed limit signs should be more abundant than they are now. Sometimes when I'm driving I'll just be looking for a speed limit.
