Your marital status and driving style

Does your marital status affect the way you drive? Did you find that after getting married and starting your own family, you started to drive more carefully and defensively?

I know that I drive more cautiously when my children are in the vehicle. I try to always drive good but sometimes I'm careless and in a hurry when I'm alone.

LOL! I don't know, because I'm still single (of course). I am a pretty careful driver in general, though, I think. My mom makes me be careful and has taught me how to always watch for stuff.

I remember when we had our girl and everything changed, more for the dad since I was already a mother at the time. Its just something you get used to and you do end up paying more attention. Every time we drive somewhere I am always going "put your hands together" (so her fingers are no where near the door when I close it).

I don't think that it made any difference in my driving. I was taught to be a careful driver as a new driver, and that pretty much has carried through my entire driving career.

I can see no possible reason why my marital status would have a single thing to do with my driving style. I sit behind the wheel, steer, and press the pedals. That's not gonna change.

I am and always have been a very careful and observant driver. I can't see being married changing that. I would think it would make you a worse driver because you will always be in a hurry to get somewhere.

I used to be a bit of a dangerous driver myself, like I said in another thread here. But after having children, I found that I started to be wiser and more tolerant on the road.
