I've been playing CDs in my mini van for ten years without any trouble. Now, the CD will get about 1/3 into the CD and just stop. I listen to a lot of books, courses and seminars on CD, so this is a real problem. Suggestions, anyone?

There's a special on television right now about drive-in movie theaters. There's one about 50 miles from my house I'm thinking of taking the teenagers to when the weather isn't so hot this summer. I feel everyone needs to experience an all-night drive-in theater. They have first-run movies, too.

Tunnels I don't like driving in tunnels either, but I can handle them. I just make darned sure I stay in my lane. I've driven the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel about a dozen times. It's kind of neat, but it is demanding of the driver. At least there's a place to stop in the middle and get out a bit.

Rent your car I'd have to be pretty desperate to try to do this. I do have relatives who have borrowed one of my cars before since it's an extra long mini-van that holds 8 people. I'm not thrilled about this, but family's family.

My cousin and her son had planned a trip to see her mother this weekend. She lives near Washington, DC. With all the storms and the high temperatures, she was unable to get enough gasoline to get out of town. So now, instead of vacationing at her mom's, with ocean and swimming pools nearby...

I use cruise control all the time when I'm out on the Interstate. We live near the junction of two primary Interstate corridors, so just about anywhere we go, we're able to take the highways. Cruise control is great for staying at the right speed.

Keeping car cool I don't know if it helps or not, but I make sure to keep the car parked underneath a carport, a few shade trees or whatever cool place I can park it when I'm out driving around. Every little bit of heat adds up.

I automatically fill up when my car gets 3/4 empty. Sometimes I'll fill it up when it gets halfway empty if I know I won't be around a suitable service station. I didn't know you could hurt your car if you let it stay too empty too often.
