    They're making it so hard

Planned obsolescence has made it into every nook and cranny of man's existence. They want us to "consume, consume, consume," as Huxley so aptly put it. It's as bad as the advertisers who pop up everywhere.

Why Would You Want a Harley?

Guys have always loved their toys. They also want the best toys. You can't get better than Harley. It doesn't matter if it's a car, a plane, a boat or a bike -- guys like having the best to prove they have arrived.

    Nephew gets Harley

I never realized I might want a motorcycle. That was until my nephew drove up on a bright fire-engine red machine. I thought that boy was a kid, but that ride makes him a man. I can still feel the rumble in my blood.

    Loaded up to the brim

I thought you meant you'd bought a new vehicle that came with all the gadgets and upgrades. Seriously, have a grand time camping. Stay safe, and don't let your truck go down.

    Road grim on hubs

Cleaning rims and hubs I've used that spray on stuff from Auto Zone, and it works like a charm. I do a lot of travel lately, and my tires can really get to looking nasty.

    Service center closings

More and more auto service centers are closing in my town. It's getting harder to find someone to work on your car, too, who knows what he's doing. Is this happening other places? I know we're in a really tight economy, but I would think people had to have their cars serviced.

    Worth it?

Detailing My brother's wife had this little sports car she was trying to sell detailed and spent a fortune on the cleaning job. It paid off. The car looked brand new and sold within a week for more than she had expected.

    Bartering up for a car

Bartering up I would probably never make it all the way to a car before I ran into someone who really needed the monetary difference. I bought some old fishing lures this morning, but I paid way too much for them because the garage sale owner was in his motorized wheel chair. I'm a softie.

    Helmet law repealed

If I'm going to be crazy enough to climb onto a motorcycle, I'll be crazy enough to let them talk me into wearing a helmet, right? None of us humans, especially motorcycle riders, are capable of looking out for ourselves. Thus, they make the laws. I'd say err on the side of safety. That might...

    Bartering up for a car

I was impressed that a guy on a recent television show bartered his way up for a cool car for his son. He started with some little item that was worth a few hundred dollars and after a number of trades, he finally traded for a car his son wanted. This gives me some ideas.

    What about electric cars?

We live in a small enough town that we don't have to worry about electric cars. You've gotten me to thinking, however. No wonder electric cars haven't caught on as much as the idea seems to promise. Who wants a car whose battery is always giving out?

    The lawsuit is over!

Lawsuit is over At least now you don't have to worry about it any more. Over time, the whole incident will fade into the past. At least it didn't end up worse than it did. You never know in cases like this. Nothing makes sense these days.

    Bumper stickers: yay or nay?

Bumper stickers I like reading bumper stickers on the backs of cars when I'm sitting at traffic lights. I say I'm a big fan of bumper stickers. It makes for great highway entertainment.

Selling my truck to my son. Should I?

Selling truck to son My brother-in-law started doing this when his son was just out of high school. Over the years, my brother-in-law always got stuck in the deal. The son ran into problems paying, children came along and so did a wife who spends all his money. Now my brother-in-law is expected...

    Female Mechanics

When I think about it, I go "I don't know about this." Then I remember what my wife said about female doctors. She says they have to be good if they can compete with the males and get into medical schools. Besides, they'd work even harder to prove themselves all through their schooling.

    Drive-in movies

Wow, hotrod. I wish we lived close to the drive-in. With the temps well over 100 this past week, we have postponed our excursion, but as soon as the weather breaks, I'm taking the whole gang for a night at the movies.

    Sea Foam

My brother had some of this sitting in his garage, and I had no clue what it was. I remember the name because I thought it had something to do with a paint color at first. Thanks for filling in the mystery.

    Vacuum Cleaners for Vehicle

Auto vacuum cleaner I use a small Black and Decker vacuum I have had for years. It does the trick. I just plug it into my electrical outlet in the carport and it reaches just fine. I don't even know if my car has a cigarette lighter, but that seems like too weak a power to give me much suction.

    CD getting stuck

Pete, strangely it's just a few, or so I think until yet another one does it. I may try cleaning them again, just in case, before I totally give up on it. It may be time to just replace the danged car.

    CD getting stuck

It is ten years old, but it's not been used all that much over the course of those years. I don't drive a ton of miles, and it's a second vehicle. I don't want to invest a lot of money in it, so I'll probably just learn to use a portable one I can use other places.
