    Good Tires, Old Rubber

Yeah, I would watch them. If you don't see any signs of them falling apart, you should be ok. You can usually see problems before they cause a breakdown.

Can you read the tire gauge?

We always used ones like you have, Skippy. I always thought the number on the tire was what you needed, but according to Car Talk, I was wrong. The number is printed in your car somewhere. (see http://cars.cartalk.com/content/advice/tirepressure.html - there are pictures.)

    Horn Honkers

I look to see if it's someone I know, and if not, I just roll my eyes at them. It doesn't hurt me any, and I figure they're just having a bad day.

How long does a car stay broken?

I have one car that has an issue in the engine that is going to be either a lot of work, or a lot of money (or both!) to fix. I'm not sure yet when that will happen. It's been a few months now. How long do your broken cars stay that way before you fix 'em or scrap 'em?

Can you fix your car whe it breaks down?

I have not learned how to fix everything on my car, but I can do brakes and filters and spark plugs and the basic stuff like that. I don't always do it myself anyway, but I can.

What does it mean when the engine keeps heating up?

Have you checked to be sure that there is not a leak in the radiator? It seems that usually if there is a problem with overheating, there is a problem with fluid somewhere.

    Leaky hose?

The good part of it all is that usually such hoses are fairly simple to repair or replace, and the parts themselves are not expensive (though the labor can be).

Keeping track of your service and maintenance records

It sounds like a neat idea! One minor thing that you might consider is changing the font on your Terms of Service page. It is really hard to read and looks kind of blurry. As for the program itself, I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, since I don't agree to ToS without reading them.

    Cold weather

We are having weather in the 70s and it is awesome! The air finally smells like fall, and the trees are starting to change. I really enjoyed having the bedroom temperature closer to 60 than 70 last night - without air conditioning!

    "Car Wars" in MI

In the middle area of the state, near Alma, they're having "car wars," in which four dealerships are competing for buyers. They're offering prizes and instant financing. They never do this sort of thing where I live, and MI is a bit too far for me to travel, but it sounds like a great deal for...

    Brake problems

Maybe the last time they were changed, they didn't get enough grease put in? If it goes away, then it seems like it wouldn't be your brakes going bad, at least.

    Smell cover up

I would try something like Febreze or Odor-Nix to get rid of the smell; and maybe leave the doors open for several hours to let it air out a bit. I can't handle perfumey stuff myself, so I know what you mean, there.

    tire indicator

That's one thing about modern cars that I dislike - all those indicators and things. Too many things that can go wrong. Give me a car with gauges, and I'm fine!

Where were you on 9/11 of 2001?

I was at home. I was totally shocked and couldn't tear myself away from the TV. I had people calling to ask me if I had my TV on, and of course I did, the whole morning.

    Rain-X

I know Rain-X is made for windshields, but I wonder how it would work as a sort of wax coating for the whole car? Has anyone tried it? Is there any reason NOT to try it?

    A/C Woes

Ouch! Yeah, all the older cars had to be updated because freon is now illegal or something like that. It stinks, though, to have it fall apart like that. My smaller car doesn't have a/c because I had to put a new engine in it, and it was apparently a different engine (even though I was clear...

    My team lost...

I didn't, but from what I've heard, they aren't the only team having an "off" game or two at the beginning of this season. I'm sure they'll all hit their stride soon.

Is it worth buying a car that needs new tires?

If all it needs is tires, and the body and engine and transmission are all good, then I would say it's worth it. You can often find places that sell pull-offs that are nearly new but a lot less expensive.

    Cat troubles

Yikes! Make sure the windows are up, huh? I think I'd be buying a carrier to keep her in when I wasn't home, unless she went completely feral and wouldn't come.

    Something still wrong!

Yeah, I'd go back by AutoZone with it, too. Could be an entirely different issue that's keeping the light lit than what you fixed. I hope you get it figured out!
