    Radars, legal or not?

In some states, they're legal and in other states, they're not. But I've never been a big fan of radar detectors. I just try to watch my speed and not drive faster than 9 miles over the speed limit. Most cops will cut you a break on that.

    Burnouts

What do people get out of doing burnouts? It's not good for the engine or transmission, and it eats up your tires. So what if you can make your tires smoke. I think mostly it's kids (teenagers) trying to show off their "muscle car." Once they have to replace a couple sets of tires and an...

    Bad Storms

Here in Alabama, we've had bad thunderstorms and some tornados most of the day today. As I watch the news, our governor has declared a state of emergency in our state. It seems like bad storms hit us about every 3 or 4 days now.

Buying gas, this is so stupid

Yeah Sweet, I'd have to say that's pretty dumb. He doesn't realize the gas he's wasting by driving around looking for cheap gas. It's like people who drive faster to get to the gas station because they're about to run out of gas. They don't realize the faster they go, the more gas they burn.

    Spills in the auto

Yes, absolutely. I hate food and stuff being all over the car seats and on the floor. I don't eat in my car myself, so I'm definitely not letting anyone else eat. I might sip from a bottle of water, but that's it.

    7,500 miles

Car manufacturers are under strict guidelines to make service and maintenance as efficient as possible. That's the reason for the long oil change intervals. Call me an old timer if you want, I still change mine every 3000 miles.

    Parts online

It depends on the prices, and whether or not I find anything bad about a particular company. Before I buy anything online, I type "XYZ Company scam" into Google. If the company has any complaints, usually they show up on Google.

    How long is your commute?

I'm self employed as well, so most of my work is done from home. However, there was a time when I had a 60 mile, one way commute with a large city right smack dab in the middle. Talk about burnout!

    Fogged Headlight

I would try the "foggy light" kit first, as it's almost impossible for anything (except maybe a little condensation after a heavy rain) to be on the inside of your headlight. If the kit doesn't work (and please, don't buy anything that has to do with sanding or drills unless you want to...

    Rollovers

Mostly, SUV's and vans. The taller the vehicle, the greater its tendency to roll. Sedans, hatchbacks and sports cars are closer to the ground, and it's almost impossible (but not totally impossible) to make them roll.

    Squirrels on my Car!

I got up this morning and walked outside to get something out of the car, when I saw three squirrels, just sitting on the roof of my car like they belonged there. They finally left when I got closer and I didn't see any damage to the car. But I've never seen a squirrel sit on a car!

    Cheaper on Gas

I am going to have to get some kind of motor cycle or motor scooter or something. These gas prices are KILLING me! It's costing me $60 right now to fill up my 1994 Honda Accord. That's rediculous! I remember when I used to be able to fill it up for $15. Geeze!!

    Expensive tires better?

I think it depends on what you want. Almost any new set of tires will carry you up and down the road every day. Some might ride rougher than others. Some might not last as long as others. And some might not look as good as others. It all depends on what you want and how much money you want...

    Baseball!

Is anyone as excited as I am about the start of the major league baseball season? I love baseball, I guess it's my favorite sport, and I love watching many teams, including the Braves and they NY Yankees. And baseball always means the start of warmer weather!:heh:

Secret To A 300,000 Mile Car

There are ways that you can make your car last for 300,000 miles without costing an arm and a leg... Always buy parts with lifetime warranties, when available. That way, you'll never have to pay for that part again. Be easy! Jackrabbit starts and brake-squealing stops limit the life of a...

    How Important is Appearance

I'd probably rate mine a 7 or an 8. I just can't stand driving a dirty car or letting the interior of the car get dirty. To me, that's a reflection on the driver. When I see a dirty car (that looks like it hasn't been washed in months), the first thing I think about is, "Wow, he must really...

    New Cell Phone

I finally got around to getting a new cell phone, after I'd lost my old one. It's funny, but I didn't miss the phone as much as I thought I would. It's a good thing though, because financially I just couldn't get another until now. I'm like a 12 year old kid on Christmas morning  .

    What if it has sat?

I don't think letting a car sit for three or four months would do any harm. But a year or longer, and I'd be very careful with it. I certainly wouldn't buy anything that had sat for over a year, without hearing and seeing it run first.

    washing cars with kitchen soap

Yes, Dawn will most definitely strip the wax off the paint. What I've always used is a good, mild liquid handwashing soap (the clear kind, not the orange "antibacterial" kind). I figure if it's good enough for your hands, it should be good enough for the paint. And I've had no trouble with it...

    Best Wheel Cleaner?

I've always just used an old, soft rag and some mild hand soap to clean mine. Does as good a job as any "specific" cleaner and costs much less too. Dang advertising companies will say anything to make the public buy their crap!
