    AWD vs 4WD

There are all wheel drive and four wheel drive vehicles. I need to buy a vehicle for my wife to get around in. We recently moved to a mountainous area where the roads are hilly and curvy. Which is better??

Why Isn't Ford Being Talked Up?

It seems Americans love a good crisis and all the heroics that go with it. I think Ford should be getting a lot more credit than it is for avoiding the car industry crisis like it has.

    Best carpet cleaner

As far as keeping it clean before it gets too far gone, I like to use my steam cleaner. I use it several times letting it dry between each cleaning. Then I follow up with Scotch Guard.

    Do Seat Belts

I've heard that most vehicle accidents occur very close to home. Because of that, even if I'm only going a short way, I buckle up and make everyone else with me do it too. I get flack about it, but I don't care.

    It's A Gas!

Lots of pluses: increased fuel efficiency, longer tire life, increased safety, much less tire pressure fluctuation and longer rim life, as shown by numerous studies. NASCAR teams swear by it.

    Would You Buy Bio-Diesel?

I would definitely use it if it was available in my area. Seems like an easier switch than trying to shift to electric cars or hybrids.

    Spay paint

I have seen some amazing and impressive "beater art" from time to time. It kind of makes sense for beaters. I wouldn't want to invest a bunch of cash on a paint job for a beater.

    Skidding In 4WD

I've always lived in the South where snow hasn't been much of an issue. Last spring we moved to Colorado. We bought a 4WD SUV. If I skid in 4WD, do you steer out of the skid just like in 2WD?

    Xenon Headlights?

I really do not like how they look when a car with them is coming from the other direction. (My dog doesn't like them either---barks whenever he sees them like something isn't right....)

    Ugliest Of The Ugly

The new Wheego LiFe is right up there as far as ugly goes. I can see where it might be a very practical vehicle in some settings though.

    The "Wheego"

Have you heard of this new make of electric car? The new LiFe is a tiny two-seater. Straight electric, not a hybrid. Not sure how far it will go.

    Are Rental Cars Safe?

I've always heard rental agencies were scrupulous about their maintenance. They turn their vehicles over quickly too, so a rental is usually a pretty new car. Seems like those practices would increase safety.

    Can They Do It?

I think they've "had the technology" for quite a long time, but that the oil special interests have blocked legislation for years. I mean, we can put a guy on the moon, for crying out loud!

Single Easiest Way To Improve Performance?

What do you think might be the single easiest way to improve the performance of your vehicle? Have you done it yet? If not, what's holding yoy back?

    What "Look" Appeals To You??

I loved the look and feel of the old "muscle cars of the past. The Chevy Chevelle, and of course the Oldmobile GTO and 442----loved em.

Ever got a car for Christmas?

When I was 18 my parents were in the market for a new car. Instead of trading in their old car, they gave it to me for Christmas. It was a '72 Buick Skylark. My mom wrapped the keys in this HUGE box stuffed with paper.

    What's the Fastest?

My mom and dad bought a '64 Buick Wildcat new. Dad wanted to see how fast it would go, so he took it out on a long country road to see---It went 110---My mom gave him hell!

    How many do you have?

I have a couple of friends who have gotten in some pretty bad wrecks on their bikes. I went through "a phase" and had two of them for awhile. Turns out I didn't use them often enough to justify having them.

    Just Sayin' Hey

Howdy, folks. Looks like some good info and discussion going on here. I'm sure there's a lot of knowlegable folks looking this site over regularly.

    Manual or Automatic??

I love to drive a stick too. I had a manual pick up for a long time that I used to tow a travel trailer. Then I found a screaming deal on a used automatic pick up. I must say that for towing, I do prefer the automatic.
