    Auto crisis - due to Japan

    There are more plants shutting down in Japan, causing the auto crisis to worsen. I guess they may have to consider opening plants in other countries to handle the situation? What do you think?

    How long do you keep your cars?

    As long as possible! The one we have had the longest was purchased (used) in 2002. The next one in 2006, and the most recent is a 1990 vehicle that we've had for a little over a year.

    Car sharing - Zipcar - stock

    According to this article at tbo.com, there is a car sharing company called Zipcar up in Massachusetts that is about to offer stock. I'm not sure how successful it will be, considering the company has not yet managed to turn a profit yet.

    Bogus Violations

    That's mostly true, but it's also true that there are 12-15 things on just about *every* car that they can give tickets for if they want to make your life miserable - even if you are not breaking the law.

    washing cars with kitchen soap

    I'm interested to hear the answer here, too, since I've always heard that Dawn dish soap (in particular) is good for car-washing. I could see where Lava soap (the kind my mom uses for washing her hands in the kitchen) would be a problem, but dishwashing soap shouldn't be.

    I've learned over the years to tune out anything I choose, pretty much. It helps when I have to focus on one thing, to be able to do that.

    EU is going to ban cars!

    Yep, you read that correctly. The EU is trying to ban all cars from major cities throughout Europe by 2050. They want people to rely on public transportation such as rail. If this appears to be succeeding there, you know it will be here in the USA next!
