    Squirrels on my Car!

Wow, I've never seen that, either! Cats, now, I see THEM on cars all the time (and if I don't see the actual CAT, I see their little footprints)! You should have taken a picture!

More people switching to fuel-efficient cars

According to this article from csmonitor.com, because gas prices are so high, buyers are specifically looking for vehicles that are more fuel-efficient. I know the cars I have get horrible gas mileage compared to some of the cars out there.

    Car crashes

I look at news about cars almost daily, and every day 6-8 of the top 10 are about crashes. Either two-car wrecks, or someone hit a building, or someone ran over a pedestrian, they are rampant. It's a shame.

    Can your car swim?

We have all old cars, so no, none of them would float. With two in car seats, that's one of my worst fears. I don't know if we could get everyone out!

    Ciggy lighter/USB adaptor

The one I have is an inverter - has a wire so "straight" or not isn't an issue. It has two places to plug in regular plugs (like for laptops) and one USB slot. I can't remember where I got it, but I *think* it was Walmart.

What have you done to your car today?

Nothing today, but yesterday we cleaned it out and vacuumed it, then took it through the car wash. I haven't even been out of the house today, yet!

Sales are down; repairs are up

More people are keeping their old cars and getting them repaired, due to the high cost of replacing them and the dip in the economy. I know I am keeping my older vehicles and fixing them instead of trying to trade them in. How about you?

    Car dealer scams

Watch out for these car dealer scams. While not all car dealers are sharks and shysters, there are enough out there that buyers need to be careful! These tips will help you not to fall for the scams they try to push off on you.

    Men vs. Women

Ever wondered what is the difference between how men buy a car and how women do? Well, so did the LA Times, who published an article that explains that women tend to be more practical, while men are more into speed and sport. Do you find that to be true in your experience?

    Jiffy Lube?

I don't know about Jiffy Lube, but I know we've had questions about the lube places we've been to, too. I know they check off stuff that they definitely didn't do, sometimes.

    Oil Changes DIY or Pay?

My dad and my brother always did their own, but we don't usually have time to mess with it, so we take it somewhere and pay to have it done.

    Old Cars

When I was a teen, I loved the Datsun/Nissan Sentra (it was during the switchover, and the car had both brand names on it). I wouldn't mind having one of those, if there were any still around!

    Ford sales are up

According to a story on go.com, March sales figures have been released and Ford's numbers aren't too shabby. It helps that a couple of the Ford vehicles get good gas mileage, making them more attractive in these days of increased gas prices.

    How many tickets?

I've had two speeding tickets (the first, I was following a courier truck and by the time I looked down and realized *he* - and therefore I - was speeding, it was too late) a long time ago ... I've been pulled over two other times, both with warnings instead of tickets (once because I had a flat...

Has your car even been keyed?

Yes, unfortunately. We had parked at Home Depot and when we came back out, there were two lines scraped all the way around the vehicle. If it had been a newer car, I would have been really upset, but it really didn't make a LOT of difference on the car I was driving at the time.

    A good driver?

I feel that I'm a good driver. I can get distracted at times, which is where I need to improve, but I have not been in a wreck when I was driving, so that should say something, right?

    Stop-Start Technology

This is a column by "Click & Clack, the Tappet brothers" (real names Tom & Ray Magliozzi). They're talking about "stop and start" technology - where stopping turns off the engine, and hitting the gas pedal turns it back on - for standard gas-powered vehicles. I know it would theoretically save...

    washing cars with kitchen soap

Interesting! I never realized that would be an issue. It's good to know that I should avoid it in the future. What inexpensive soaps are good for using instead?

    What's your weather like?

It was cooler today but not as cold as winter. We've had a lot of rain and storms this last week, which is fine because I'd rather have rain than to deal with the drought conditions we had in previous years.
