Your favorite highway or road to drive on

My favorite highway would have to be Highway 1 in California. I think there are some beautiful views along this road, especially in the Central Coast section. When it comes to fun and scenic rides, what's your favorite road?

    AM radio?

I was going to say talk radio before I read your last sentence. That's really the only thing I can think of. I used to listen to political or sports talk once in a while on AM radio. Other than that, I don't think there's anything current music-wise. So it looks like for you, the answer to your...

    Don't use the A/C!

I agree with Max on this. I don't use A/C much, but I do usually use fresh air from the vents. In addition to the reason Max gave, I find it's too loud sometimes to have the windows open. I like my private space to relax without the outside noise.

Wow... as if it wasn't bad enough...

I know it's not that much consolation, but this guy will almost certainly get the maximum felony sentence possible for this. I got arrested for drinking and driving many years ago, but I didn't hit anything, I just got caught at a checkpoint. Of course I learned my lesson and I don't do it...

    Does this exist?

Driving on long freeways out in the country seems to be worst for getting bugs, and I have to do that sometimes so I can empathize. I'll have to try that Vaseline idea, that sounds interesting. In the past I've just washed my car more often, but you're right, removing those bugs can be pesky.

Do you have a DVD player?

Don't worry KC23, you're not the only one, I don't have a DVD player in my car either. Actually I know several people who don't have one yet, but you're right, they do seem to be getting more popular. It would be cool to have one for long trips, but it's not that high of a priority for me.

    Driving in the rain?

I don't seem to hate it nearly as much as most people. I wouldn't say that I really like it in particular, but I don't have a big problem with it. I guess I just feel like I can see well enough, and I've never had an issue with my wheels not gripping the road.

The most you would spend on a new car

I think everyone made great points, but I like the idea of getting two $40,000 cars the best. Actually for my comfortable limit, I guess it would be two $50,000 cars. Then you can have some variety in addition to some luxury. Plus, I imagine my wife would want to give some input in how our money...

    Billy Mays Scratch Stuff

I believe the product you're referring to is the Simoniz Fix It. I haven't tried it, but you're right, Billy Mays did promote some great products. I'm a little nervous to use something this cheap on my car though.

The most you would spend on a new car

Imagine you won the lottery or something, and you had a good amount of cash. What's the most you'd want to spend on a new car? I don't think I'd go over $100,000. There are just way too many awesome cars available that are less than that. I would get something really nice though!

    Sirius?

I really like it, because I don't think there's enough good music on the regular radio. If you're not happy with what's on the normal radio stations, then I think you'd love Sirius. They have a huge variety of programming.

What's the appeal of a sidecar?

KC23, I can see your point on this, it might be kind of fun in a silly kind of way. If I had the chance to try it once, I'd probably go for it. Since they're so low to the ground, I imagine it makes for a somewhat exciting ride. I agree with the other responses more though, they look silly, and...

    Comfort

My driving seat is perfectly comfortable for me, and I don't have an electrical adjustable seat or anything fancy. I'm pretty much average height and weight though, so I guess I'm just one of the lucky ones. After a really long drive sometimes my knees will hurt a bit, but that seems normal to...

    Who rides back?

I think it's funny how men are so sensitive to riding in the back, but I don't think it's something that's going to change anytime soon. Personally, I don't have a problem with it, but it is more fun to drive. I would suggest trying to save up for two bikes if that's possible for you, then you...

What's the appeal of a sidecar?

Does anyone here like sidecars? Riding in one sounds like it would be alright I guess, but I can't imagine it's more fun than just riding your own bike. Learning to properly drive a motorcycle with a sidecar sounds like it would be more trouble than it's worth.

    Car Thieves - new methods

I would think the bait car would still work for these thieves, because I believe the police monitor the car before someone jumps in. So even if someone just quickly came up to the car and tampered with it, the cops could go after them immediately if they tried to get away.

    Car Thieves - new methods

Craig, people who steal don't have the same moral code that the majority of us have. I don't think that's necessarily a sign of the times, there have always been criminals and thieves. Their methods do change though, so it's good for honest citizens to be wary of that. I agree that bait cars...

    Everything going wrong :(

TBird65 is right, but I think the best thing to do is try to take things one step at a time. I know it's hard, but if you don't the problems will drive you nuts fast. I think we've all been there, best of luck getting things fixed.

Where do you draw the line with drinking and driving?

I appreciate the passionate responses against drinking and driving, but honestly I am a little surprised at the mostly unanimous responses too. I see where you all stand and generally agree, but do you actually think it's wrong to have one beer or glass of wine with dinner, and drive after that...

Where do you draw the line with drinking and driving?

I'll admit it, many years ago when I was young and stupid, I would drink and drive sometimes. After I got busted for a DUI once though, I learned my lesson. After that, for several years I wouldn't drive after I had even one drink. These days, I'll have a couple beers here and there, but I never...
