The dare that became a fond memory

That's awesome!! I'm glad you didn't get pulled over; that would have messed up the whole thing. Did he let up on you after that or was he still just as bad?

2011 International Auto Show - Charleston

WOWK TV has an article about the 2011 International Auto Show, which is in Charleston, WV, at the Civic Center. If you're in the area, it might be fun to check it out!

    Airbag Failure

Personally, I'd rather not have an airbag anyway. For one thing, they have been shown to *cause* injuries (they don't report that a lot in the media, though). Also, I wear glasses. An airbag deploying in my face at 200+mph is likely to not only break my glasses, but also to push shards of...

    When in traffic jam?

I call someone on my cell phone and yak. You know, the distracted driving laws are moot when one is sitting there stuck in traffic that isn't going anywhere!

    Happy 125th, Car!

Today, January 29, is the 125th Anniversary of the Automobile! There were two cars, actually. The article mentions more specifics, including their locations and creators: It's an interesting article. Where would we be without cars?

    Toyota and electronics

Did you know that Toyota is the #1 Customer for Automotive Electronics? I wonder if that means that we can expect to see more up to date electronic components in the upcoming Toyota vehicles?

    Crusing

I've seen advertisements for them downtown, but I have not attended. Sometimes I see them on their way, though, and the cars are really awesome.

    In public transport?

I almost always fall asleep when I'm traveling if I'm not driving. It doesn't matter what the vehicle is - train, plane, or automobile! Guess it's just habit.

    Maximum speed?

I tried once, when I was a fairly new driver, out on a back road that was long and straight (and I knew it had very little traffic). It was a Pinto, standard-shift, and I got it up to a little over 80mph!

    Winning a car?

It's hard to say, really. It would depend partly on how much the taxes would cost to get it registered! It would probably be more cost-effective to just sell it, if it were a new one. Plus, I tend to prefer older cars.

Which nostalgic car would you bring back?

Isn't that the truth!! The modern cars may be aerodynamic and whatever, but they by and large lack uniqueness and personality. Back "when," one could tell a car's make, model and year just by LOOKING. Now, there are too many look-alikes!

    Both Window Handles Broke Off

When ours broke, we got a manual and the part and put it in ourselves. It wasn't really that difficult; I think the hardest part was getting the panel off the door (or, maybe, getting the panel back ON!). If you look at the manual and think you can't handle it (no pun intended!) you can always...

    10% Ethanol??

MyMotor, I found this information about ethanol and how it will affect a car that is not set up for it. Take a look; it contains the answer to your question in reasonable detail. Hope it helps!

    Highway VS City MPG

From what I've seen, highway mileage tends to be 3-5mpg better. Stop and go really eats up the gas, due to needing more to get moving.

Car Tech Live podcast about electric cars

This podcast has a video on "How much do we have to pay you to buy an electric car?" Of course, I seriously doubt *they* will be paying anything for us to get a vehicle, but they might offer discounts or tax breaks.

    Gadgets vs Privacy

Yep, I even think it would be better to get a car old enough to not have a computer in it, because they malfunction much too often. The newfangled stuff they're putting in - stuff that can make the ignition not turn, etc. - have way too much potential for abuse, in my opinion.

    Stolen car found...

Man, this would totally suck! This person had their car stolen, and it was found in a canal! As if the car being stolen wasn't bad enough, now it's totaled (more than likely)!

Which nostalgic car would you bring back?

Well, the one I like is from the 80s, so not really *that* nostalgic, but I always liked the Datsun-Nissan Sentra (the one from when Nissan *first* bought out Datsun). It was squared off and I just really liked it.

    Pet poisonings

I think it's wrong, if they are doing it on purpose; but I would NOT say worse than murdering a fellow human. Nevertheless, it would be good if they could be taught to be kinder to animals!

    10% Ethanol??

It is letting you know the ethanol content. Ethanol is the new corn-based fuel that they have been pushing (that has raised the price of corn). Most of the stations in my area have big banners proclaiming "NO ETHANOL" rather than what you're seeing. The one exception is the station with E-85...
