The Car of the Year this year was awarded to the Chevy Volt. The Ford Explorer won Truck of the Year. I'd love to try driving a Volt. It's an electric car (as one could assume from its name).
It depends on the vehicle, also. There is one vehicle (I'm thinking Suburban, but I could be wrong) whose fuel pump will be damaged if the owner allows the gas to get below a quarter of a tank - ever!
Wow! I never thought it would be possible to actually drive around the *world*! With all the water between, you know, it seems like it would be impossible. I guess one could quibble that one is going by ship some of the way, but they'd still have their car!
According to BBC news, the world's fastest car is being developed. This vehicle is being designed to achieve speeds of 1000mph! I have no idea what would be the point of being able to go that fast, though!
It's because everyone tends to think, "*I* won't have a problem. *I* can handle it. I won't be so distracted that I'll get in a wreck." At least until they do end up in a wreck.
Wow, that's a bummer! I would recommend looking for an auto glass place rather than a body shop. The people who are well-versed in changing windshields will be able to get it done more quickly and with better quality than those who don't deal regularly with them, in my experience.
That's probably a good idea. I find, though, that I don't have to replace my wiper blades as often as every year, usually. Usually I replace them every 2-3 years. Still, it can't HURT to have new ones every year!
I think they could be useful in some situations, but I would tend to agree with you on the color. With something that small, a bright, reflective color would surely improve visibility, and by extension, safety.
I think I wouldn't be able to bring myself to USE that technology! I would be afraid it would run into something, and I doubt the other vehicle's owner would be ok with "Sorry, my car was driving itself!"
We get our oil changed a couple times a year, and do a tuneup (spark plugs & wires, etc) about every other year or so. Which means, we *do* maintenance, but we don't follow the schedule recommended.
There are tinted license plate covers out there. It makes it really hard to see the plate. I've heard they are illegal in some states (but, apparently not in others). I think they shouldn't be allowed because of the reduced visibility.
Car and Driver has changed their site to make searching for a used car a better experience for visitors. They have joined the "Vast" program to help consumers find vehicles that closely match their requirements. I think I'm going to check it out!
London is seeing a drop in the registrations of new vehicles. I'm guessing it won't be just in London, but will be a widespread issue due to a lack of ready money. What do you think?
I use Rain-X also. It works fine for me. I, too, hadn't heard of vinegar or baking soda. Those would probably be less expensive, if they work as well. I may have to try that!
When this sort of recall happens, are car owners *required* to do the swap, or do they have the option to keep the car, knowing that it does not meet "regulations at the time of manufacture"?
I do like Steve does. I prefer others to dim theirs as soon as possible, therefore, I dim mine as soon as possible, also. I don't know what the law is, but it works to do it that way!
In my state, seat belts are mandatory, as long as the vehicle has them. The few vehicles that do not have them are large vehicles such as the previously mentioned buses.
I put down the passenger side window in my car and it got stuck on the way back up with about 2 inches to go. Thankfully we have a plastic shield on there that keeps the rain out, but it gets annoying!
Where I live, they don't salt the roads and we live in a neighborhood; so I usually wash mine a couple times a year (usually in the summer). I took the kids through the automatic car wash last time and they LOVED that!
