    Car paint shortage!

Wow, who would've thought? Car paint is experiencing a shortage, causing Chrysler and Ford to restrict orders for some of their cars. It is a shortage of Xirallic, which is what causes that "glittery shine" on cars. It's only made in Japan.

    State law

A lot of times they will accept other correspondence to that address as well. She should just ask them what proof they will accept under the circumstances.

    If you have multiple cars,

I think your situation is common. It doesn't seem to work that way at my house, though. With me, my spouse, and our teen driver, and three vehicles, it seems to mostly work out that whoever gets there first gets that vehicle LOL. My spouse does mostly use one vehicle for work purposes, but the...

    Bike Lanes

We don't have bike lanes, but there are signs by the road reminding drivers to "Share the Road." I'm not sure why they didn't put in bike lanes, if they're expecting bikes.

    If you have multiple cars,

If you have more than one car in your family, how do you decide which car is driven by whom at any given departure from home? Do you each have "your" car that you use pretty much exclusively, or do you just pick one?

    Wheel Covers

Now, see, here is one of the places I differ from the average person. If I lose covers, I tend to just leave 'em off. I guess that's a bad thing.

    Bus Driver

Most places in the USA require a CDL for drivers of school buses and other vehicles larger than a 15-passenger van. There were some states who used to allow church bus drivers to just have a regular license, but I think most have dropped that exemption.

    Bells and Whistles

I'm not thrilled with all the bells and whistles, personally. There's a new commercial about a car that "sees" when someone in front of you slows way down, and the CAR slows you down... that makes me nervous. I think they are giving cars too much control!

    Eating or Drinking Whilst Driving

In the USA, having alcohol open in the vehicle is an offense, much less actually DRINKING it while driving. One would report that here by calling 911 or, if one has the number available, the local police.

Auto industry impact from Japan's quake

If you've been wondering how the automobile industry has been affected by the recent earthquake (and subsequent tsunami) in Japan, you're not alone. Yahoo has an article that details the information for you, at a glance.

    When is it safe...

Probably middle of May, if you live in the north (which it sounds like you do, since they are using salt on the roads - in the south they use sand). Although, I remember getting snow in June one year.

    Driver Training for Young Kids

Sounds a lot like a go-cart place, on a slightly larger scale. I know few kids who would opt out, if they had a choice, honestly. What 11-13 year old would choose to NOT drive if they had a chance to? I know MINE would jump at something like that!

    Learning the Law

I talk to my kids about the laws pertaining to the road often when we are out driving. By the time they are old enough to drive, they pretty much know already. What they didn't get from that, they learn in the manual.

    Cars held hostage!

GM & Chrysler are suing Allied Shippers because they're holding their cars hostage. 1,700 of the vehicles are being held and GM & Chrysler have filed a lawsuit ... that is about $47 million worth of cars they're holding!

    Drunk Driving Checkpoint Software

Have you heard of this? Apparently some people are up in arms about drunk driving checkpoint software. The police seem to think it is being used as a way to circumvent the checkpoints, while the creators say that they feel it is a deterrent to driving drunk.

    Fly windows

We used to call them "wing windows" when I was growing up. I liked having them in the back seat of the car we had whose back windows didn't open - so I had a way to get air. They're triangle-shaped windows at the front of front door windows and the back of back door windows (when present).

    International driver's licencing

(I think you meant parity rather than parody.) I agree with Marvin, but the law is not always reasonable. That said, according to a quick search, most countries DO recognize an American driver's license as valid.

    My son

Congratulations! He's beautiful!! Tell your wife that my friend who had a c-section says to always stand all the way up before walking... it will help.

    License points

I never realized the points were a "deduction." I was always under the impression that they accumulated and at a certain level, were grounds for license removal. I guess it's the same thing, just looked at from a different perspective. Anyway, I know there are usually safe-driving classes you...

    Other forums?

I visit a few forums, but this is the only car-related one to which I belong. The others I visit relate to other parts of my life. I don't really have time to "collect" forums.
